SKY CONFIRM: Rotherham United Strike Agreement with Stockport County for Kyle Wootton

Sky Sports confirm that Rotherham United have reached an agreement with Stockport County to sign striker Kyle Wootton ahead of the 2025/26 season. The deal, which is believed to be worth a six-figure sum, brings an end to Wootton’s successful spell at Edgeley Park, where he was instrumental in helping Stockport secure promotion to League One.

The 28-year-old forward scored 15 goals in all competitions last season and attracted attention from several League One sides. Rotherham, who are looking to rebuild their squad after relegation from the Championship, see Wootton as a key figure in their push for immediate promotion.

Negotiations between the two clubs progressed swiftly, with personal terms already agreed. Wootton is expected to undergo a medical in the coming days before officially signing a multi-year contract.

Rotherham manager Steve Evans reportedly identified Wootton as a top priority early in the window, valuing his physical presence, hold-up play, and proven goal-scoring record. Stockport, meanwhile, are expected to reinvest the funds into strengthening their squad for their upcoming League One campaign.

An official announcement is expected shortly, pending the successful completion of the medical and final paperwork.
