SKY CONFIRM: Bradford City Strike Agreement with Walsall for Star Midfielder

Sky Sports have confirmed that National League side Bradford City have struck an agreement with League Two club Walsall for the transfer of central midfielder Ronan Maher. The highly-rated 20-year-old is set to join Bradford City in a deal believed to be a significant boost to their promotion hopes ahead of the 2025/26 season.

Maher, who impressed with his technical quality and vision during the 2024/25 League Two campaign, had been attracting interest from several National League and League Two clubs. Bradford City moved swiftly to secure his services, with personal terms reportedly already agreed and a medical scheduled within the next 48 hours.

The Bees are aiming to build on a strong finish last season and view Maher as a key addition to Dean Brennan’s midfield. Known for his calmness under pressure and range of passing, the Irishman is expected to slot into a creative role, offering both defensive stability and attacking impetus.

Walsall, meanwhile, are believed to be open to reinvesting the transfer fee into their summer recruitment. Sky report that Barnet beat late interest from at least two other clubs to finalize the deal, underlining their ambition for the upcoming campaign.

Will Maher be the missing piece in Bradford City promotion puzzle?
