On the eve of signing a striker linked to Man City and Luton Town , Newcastle United will formally join in 2025.

According to reports, Newcastle United will close a deal to sign young Vakhtang Salia of Georgia.
Manchester City and Arsenal were reportedly dominating the hunt for the 17-year-old earlier this year, but new reports indicate the Magpies are expected to prevail.

Journalist Josue Casse of Foot Mercato claims that a deal that would allow Salia to remain with top-tier team Dinamo Tbilisi until the conclusion of the season before formally relocating to St. James’ Park is almost complete.

Casse posted on X, “Vakhtang Salia set to join Newcastle.” “The Georgian nugget will join the Magpies in the summer after finishing his career at Dinamo Tbilisi.

“Entire consensus is being worked out between the various stakeholders. The 17-year-old attacker, who is regarded as Georgian football’s future, made his debut for the U21 team.

Santi Aouna, who has over 300,000 followers on X, also shared the post.

Despite his youth, Salia has already made 30 appearances for the first squad of Tbilisi since making his debut in the previous campaign. He has primarily played as a striker and left forward, tallying two assists and four goals overall.

Due to his nationality and the fact that he came through Dinamo Tbilisi’s development system, Salia has garnered comparisons to Napoli star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, making him one of Europe’s most promising young prospects.

Similar to this, earlier in the summer, United signed FK Jedinstvo Ub’s Serbian young player Miodrag Pivas, who they later loaned to Willem II of the Eredivisie.

“Miodrag has a lot of potential and is a promising talent,” said Darren Eales, CEO of Newcastle. In order to identify and develop young players like Miodrag into future first team players, our recruitment network is still keeping an eye on them all over the world.
