Leeds United defeated 10-man Cardiff City 2-0 on Saturday to go back into the Championship play-off
spots. The victory was convincing, if not exhilarating. Largie Ramazani and Joel Piroe goals each side of halftime gave Daniel Farke’s team all three points, but the bottom-of-the-table Bluebirds were only able to muster a respectable total thanks to careless finishing.
This Saturday, when Leeds come home to play celtic at Elland Road in the opening of a potentially challenging fixture run, plans will already be in place for another big game. Additionally, the YEP has compiled a list of some of the most recent news on the club in advance of another hectic week in West Yorkshire.
Rasmus Kristensen, who joined Eintracht Frankfurt on loan earlier this summer, is a key player for the Bundesliga team, according to manager Tino Toppmöller.
The defender for Leeds United, who spent last season on loan with AS Roma of Serie A, has agreed to a season-long contract with the German team. Kristensen has made just 30 appearances for the Whites in all competitions since signing in the summer of 2022, the majority of those coming in their ill-fated final season in the Premier League.
After the Whites relegation from the top flight, the Danish defender was among a vast amount of players able to leave the club on loan as part of clause in their Elland Road contract. Reports indicate Leeds have negotiated a reported £10.8m option to buy in the latest loan arrangement with Frankfurt, while fussball.news believes the Bundesliga club believe they can negotiate a cheaper sum.
When Kristensen’s loan with the Bundesliga team ends, he will still have one year left on his Leeds deal. Frankfurt thinks they can negotiate better terms because of this. According to Toppmöller, Frankfurt’s sporting director Markus Krösche already understands the significance of the Whites’ loanee.
“Markus Krösche has already recognized that,” stated the Frankfurt manager. He already has it under control and doesn’t require my help. He recognizes Rasmus’s significance to us as well.
“Despite experiencing gastrointestinal issues, he persevered and performed admirably. Rasmus is incredibly vital to us because of his strength and vitality.”
