While never really getting into top gear in any of their three Premier League games, Newcastle United can

be happy with their start to the season as they look forward to a stretch of play that could see them welcome back yet more players from injury. Newcastle United will be hoping to have one of their key players back in contention to play when they visit Wolves on Sunday at 4:30 p.m. from Molineux. Eddie Howe’s team is still undefeated going into this match.

Joe Willock, who has managed just over 30 minutes of action this season, might be one of those. A few days later, Willock started their Carabao Cup match against Nottingham Forest after being brought on as a late substitute in their draw with Bournemouth.

However, despite scoring inside 20 seconds of that game, the 25-year-old lasted just 15 minutes before a thigh injury forced him off the field. At the time, it appeared like Willock, who missed substantial sections of last season with hamstring and achilles problems, may have sustained a significant thigh injury – one which Howe described as being a ‘huge blow’: “A huge blow for him and for us,” Howe told the Gazette. “We looked at him when he scored the goal.

His absence forced us to reorganize our midfield, which was the last thing we wanted to do at that particular time. Let’s hope it’s not something serious. It doesn’t look good, he’s feeling a pain in his thigh so we’ll have to wait and see how serious it is.”

Willock then missed the win versus Tottenham Hotspur before the international break, but, Howe has stated that his injury doesn’t look as catastrophic as first feared. The athlete appears to have validated such expectations through an Instagram post.Willock’s return will be a huge boost to Howe, who may soon welcome back Callum Wilson and Lewis Miley from injury. Willock has posted a video of himself in training with Newcastle United, jogging and utilizing the ball along with a stopwatch emoji and praying hands.
