Amidst a transfer claim, Newcastle United is expected to unveil a “top quality addition” against
Nottingham Forest. In the final five days of the transfer window, Eddie Howe maintains that Newcastle United will only sign the “right players at the right price.”
Lewis Hall’s permanent departure from Chelsea brings the Magpies’ total number of summer signings to five. Still, the team hopes to add at least one more before the transfer market closes on Friday at 11 p.m. Only Lloyd Kelly and Hall have made Premier League starts out of those newcomers; Will Osula and goalkeepers John Ruddy and Odysseas Vlachodimos have not.For the better part of three weeks, United and Crystal Palace have been in negotiations over defender Marc Guehi. Despite submitting four bids, the most recent of which is said to be around £65 million with add-ons, the parties have not been able to come to an agreement. When asked if he was certain that the transaction he wants will be completed, Howe said, “I’m not sure how to respond to that.” We’ll just go about our business as usual. Since we have no influence over it, we’ll see. Howe wants to add more players to his team, but he is also happy to get some familiar names back, like Sandro Tonali, who will play in Wednesday’s away Carabao Cup match against Nottingham Forest following a 10-month betting ban.
Howe did, however, hold off on calling Tonali “like a new signing.” “I’m not sure if I like to use that because then people say you have everything you need, so no,” he remarked.Howe continued, “I think we’ve made it clear: we’d love to add to the group, but they have to be the right players at the right price for the football club’s short- and long-term benefit.” Although we can’t control it, we’ll do everything in our power to try to strengthen the team.
“I believe we have some really good players on our team, and we still have a few returning from injury, so hopefully we can strengthen the group even further.” Sandro’s ban is ended, and we will be happy to have him back. He’s yet another excellent addition.
