Leicester City initiate contact to sign Sunderland player – Summer deal can see Black Cats earn ‘lot of money’

Leicester City are in the picture to sign Sunderland’s Pierre Ekwah this summer, according to Africafoot.

The defensive midfielder has been a regular for the Black Cats since joining them from West Ham United in January 2023. He’s made 60 appearances, of which 42 were last season.

New Leicester manager Steve Cooper admires the Sunderland player’s profile, and his side have now stepped in to sign him.

The Foxes have started making efforts to secure his services. It’s claimed Leicester scouts have contacted the 22-year-old’s camp to find out more information about him.According to Africafoot, the newly promoted Premier League side could make an offer to convince Sunderland to sanction Ekwah’s sale in this window.

There’s no mention of the fee Leicester could offer or Sunderland’s demand. If the deal goes through, the report states the Championship side can earn ‘a lot of money’.

On July 19th, Messaggero Veneto reported Udinese have made offers to both Sunderland and the player, and it didn’t end up convincing Régis Le Bris’ side.

Leicester have made contact to sign Ekwah and it needs to be seen whether they’ll make an offer to take him away from Sunderland.
