Alfie Devine, a 20-year-old midfielder linked to Sheffield Wednesday and Birmingham City, is reportedly

edging closer to a loan move away from Tottenham Hotspur. The player made an impression during his two loan stints away from the club last season, first linking up with Port Vale and then switching to Plymouth Argyle midway through the campaign. Wednesday was reportedly considering a move for the England youth international during the summer transfer window, and later in the window, reports suggested he was edging close to a move to Birmingham.

According to reports, a prospective deal to the Midlands fell through, thus when the transfer deadline rolled around, Devine was left without a loan club. But according to Football London, he is scheduled to travel to Belgium in order to finalize a loan move to Westerlo.

If Devine completes a deal, it would be his first move outside of his home country of England. The Belgian transfer window remains open until September 6, allowing clubs in the Belgian Pro League to sign players when English clubs are no longer able to.

An attack-minded midfielder, Devine spent time in the junior systems of Liverpool and Wigan Athletic before joining Tottenham. He featured consistently for Spurs in pre-season and was on the bench for their recent defeat to Newcastle United.
