SKY CONFIRM: “Hibernian VS Rangers” Match Not to be Televised Due to Technical Rights Dispute

Sky Sports has officially confirmed that the upcoming Scottish Premiership clash between Hibernian and Rangers will not be televised, citing a technical rights dispute as the primary reason. The decision has sparked disappointment among fans, particularly those unable to attend the fixture in person.

According to Sky, the broadcasting rights for certain matches are subject to complex regional agreements, and in this case, the dispute stems from limitations on the number of live games allowed to be shown from Easter Road this season. Despite attempts to reach a resolution with all involved parties, including the SPFL and both clubs, no agreement was reached in time.

A Sky spokesperson stated, “We understand the frustration of supporters. Unfortunately, due to broadcasting restrictions and unresolved technical rights issues, we’re unable to air the Hibernian vs Rangers fixture.”

Supporters have expressed outrage on social media, urging both Sky and the SPFL to improve transparency and ensure better access to marquee fixtures. With the game expected to have implications on the top-six standings, fans will now be forced to follow through radio, club updates, or unofficial streams.

Neither Hibernian nor Rangers have yet commented publicly on the issue.
