SKY CONFIRM: “Aberdeen vs Celtic” Match Not to Be Televised Due to Scheduling Clash

Sky Sports has confirmed that the upcoming Scottish Premiership clash between Aberdeen and Celtic will not be televised live, citing a scheduling conflict as the primary reason. The broadcaster, which holds exclusive rights to air top-flight Scottish football, announced the decision after finalising its weekend broadcasting schedule, which prioritises matches with broader viewer appeal across the UK.

The fixture, set to take place at Pittodrie, was expected to draw significant interest, especially given Celtic’s ongoing title chase and Aberdeen’s push for European qualification. However, Sky opted to show an English Premier League match during the same broadcast slot, leaving many Scottish football fans disappointed.

A spokesperson for Sky Sports said: “Unfortunately, due to a clash with other scheduled programming, we are unable to televise the Aberdeen vs Celtic fixture. We remain committed to bringing fans comprehensive Scottish Premiership coverage throughout the season.”

The decision has sparked criticism from supporters and pundits alike, with many questioning the broadcaster’s commitment to promoting Scottish football. Fans unable to attend the match will have to rely on club media channels or highlights to catch the action, as no alternative live broadcast has been arranged.
