SKY CONFIRM: “Celtic vs Hibernian” Match Not to Be Televised Due to Broadcast Restrictions

Sky Sports has officially confirmed that the upcoming Scottish Premiership clash between Celtic and Hibernian will not be televised live. The decision comes as a result of current broadcast rights restrictions, which limit the number of matches that can be shown per season. Despite the high interest in the fixture, especially given both teams’ form and passionate fanbases, Sky is unable to override the pre-agreed schedule.

A spokesperson stated, “We understand fans’ disappointment, but we must adhere to the SPFL’s broadcasting agreement.” Supporters who were hoping to watch the match live will now have to rely on club radio, highlights packages, or in-stadium attendance.

The move has sparked frustration among fans, especially with title implications for Celtic and European ambitions for Hibs. Calls for a more flexible broadcasting model in Scottish football are once again growing louder.
