SKY CONFIRM: Bournemouth Strike Agreement with Crystal Palace for Jean-Philippe Mateta

Sky Sports have confirmed that AFC Bournemouth have reached an agreement with Crystal Palace to sign striker Jean-Philippe Mateta. The deal, reportedly in the region of £20 million, sees the Frenchman poised to make a summer switch to the Vitality Stadium, pending a medical and final personal terms.

Mateta, 26, enjoyed a standout 2024/25 campaign under Oliver Glasner at Palace, hitting double digits in the Premier League and drawing interest from several clubs across Europe. Bournemouth, eager to bolster their attacking options ahead of the new season, have moved quickly to secure his signature after identifying him as a key target.

The Cherries have been actively seeking a proven Premier League striker to add firepower alongside Dominic Solanke, and Mateta’s blend of strength, finishing ability, and recent form made him a prime candidate. Palace, while reluctant to lose the in-form forward, are believed to be planning a reshuffle in attack and viewed the offer as good business.

Mateta is expected to undergo a medical in the coming days. If all goes to plan, he will become Bournemouth’s first major signing of the summer window. An official announcement is expected soon.
