If Celtic can win their four home Champions League games and guarantee a spot in the knockout stages this season, they might make up to £100 million.

According to financial expert Stefan Borson, who spoke with Football Insider exclusively, the Scottish champions may have to start spending a lot more money if they go to the competition’s second round.

Following a 5-1 victory against Slovan Bratislava in their initial match, Celtic fell to Borussia Dortmund 7-1 in their second group stage match.

In addition to playing RB Leipzig, Club Brugge, and Young Boys at home, Brendan Rodgers’ team still has tournament visits to Atalanta, Dinamo Zagreb, and Huddersfield Town .

Celtic might secure knockout qualification with home victory
Borson thinks the Glasgow giants might succeed at Celtic Park even if he said they might still struggle away from home in the Champions League.

“Football Insider, I think they can do it at home,” said Borson.

Assume they managed to secure victories in all four of their home games and a few draws away from home. Is that sufficient to advance them to the Champions League’s next round?

“They will be very close to making £100 million from the Champions League if they can advance to the second round and win four of their home games.

You can start spending a good deal more than they are already spending on the salary bill if you can accomplish that one season and then another to make it back-to-back seasons.

After that, you can gradually begin to increase. However, I believe that it’s really difficult for them since, in terms of revenue, their domestic condition is really dismal.

It is quite challenging to compete with clubs that are emerging from the major leagues. Dortmund being a wonderful illustration of that.

“They will have a very difficult time competing away from home in the Aston Villa match.

Villa’s pay bill is expected to exceed £200 million, meaning that it will once again be three times more than Celtic’s.

“This is going to be an extremely difficult game.”

In other developments, a “dramatic” financial blow has been dealt to Celtic.
