Cardiff City are in advanced negotiations with West Bromwich Albion over the potential signing of right-back Darnell Furlong, according to recent reports.

The 28-year-old defender, who has been a mainstay for the Baggies since joining from Queens Park Rangers in 2019, has become a key figure at The Hawthorns, but a move to Cardiff appears to be on the horizon as the Bluebirds look to bolster their defensive options.

Furlong has made over 150 appearances for West Brom, showcasing his versatility, pace, and defensive solidity. Known for his attacking prowess, including his ability to deliver dangerous crosses from wide areas, he has also demonstrated strong defensive positioning and work rate, making him a well-rounded full-back in the Championship. Cardiff manager Erol Bulut is believed to be a keen admirer of Furlong, seeing him as a perfect fit for Cardiff’s tactical setup, which often emphasizes the importance of wide play.

The negotiations between the two clubs are reportedly at an advanced stage, with Cardiff City eager to finalize the deal before the close of the transfer window. Financial terms of the deal are still under discussion, but it is believed that a fee in the region of £2-3 million could be agreed upon.

Furlong’s potential arrival would be a significant boost for Cardiff, who have had a somewhat inconsistent start to the season and are looking to climb the

Championship table. Adding a player with Furlong’s experience and qualities could help solidify their defense and provide a greater threat going forward. Should the deal go through, Furlong would likely slot straight into Cardiff’s starting XI as their first-choice right-back for the remainder of the campaign.
