The most recent transfer rumors from Aston Villa, as Jhon Duran’s season-long performances have allegedly prompted Premier League rivals Chelsea to rekindle their interest

Jhon Duran is apparently being eyed by Chelsea in the transfer window, although Chelsea would now need to pay Aston Villa at least twice as much as they were quoted when the summer interest was originally expressed.

This season, Duran has been Villa’s hero numerous times, tallying five of his six goals from the bench. The most recent occurred on Wednesday night when Villa Park hosted the Champions League for the first time ever, and Unai Emery’s team pulled off a historic victory over European powerhouse Bayern Munich.

However, things nearly didn’t work out that way because the 20-year-old appeared to be about to quit the team due to a summer transfer drama. crystal palace were the first contender to emerge, were allowed by Villa to start personal discussions with the player, then finally walked away from negotiations by failing to meet the established £40m price tag.

Villa is benefiting from this choice, but TEAMtalk has issued a caution, stating that the Blues will reenter the Duran market when the next chance arises. In light of this, it appears West Midlands administrators are ready, as they have reportedly set a new asking price of ‘at least £80m’ for the Colombian player.

He averages a goal per 49.5 minutes despite playing just 28% of the team’s Premier League minutes this season. According to a recent report, if this goal-scoring trend continues, the club’s valuation may possibly approach a nine-figure, £100 million amount.

Though Duran must be enjoying his time at Villa Park at the moment, analysts can’t help but feel that if he is consistently seen as Unai Emery’s backup striker, the young striker will soon be itching to start ahead of Ollie Watkins. Along with that, it was recently reported that he would be free to leave since Hugo Duro of Valencia has been identified as a potential £25 million replacement.
