Crystal Palace is reportedly in advanced talks with Southampton over a potential £33 million deal for right-back Kyle Walker-Peters.

The 26-year-old has been a standout performer for Southampton despite the club’s relegation to the Championship, and his versatility and Premier League experience have made him a target for several clubs this summer.

Walker-Peters, who joined Southampton from Tottenham Hotspur in 2020, has consistently been one of the Saints’ best performers, capable of playing on both flanks of the defense.

His attacking prowess and defensive reliability have drawn attention, and a move to Crystal Palace could bolster Roy Hodgson’s squad, particularly after losing Aaron Wan-Bissaka to Manchester United in 2019.

Palace, who finished mid-table in the Premier League last season, are looking to strengthen their squad to push for a higher league position.

With the potential departure of some key players, such as Wilfried Zaha, and the need to reinforce the defense, Walker-Peters could be a perfect fit for the Eagles.

Southampton, on the other hand, is preparing for life in the Championship and is keen to raise funds to rebuild their squad after a difficult season.

While losing Walker-Peters would be a blow to their ambitions, the £33 million fee would allow them to reinvest in players more suited to the challenges of the second tier. The deal, if confirmed, would be one of the bigger transfers of the summer for both clubs. It highlights Palace’s intent to add quality to their squad while Southampton looks to restructure ahead of a challenging campaign in the Championship.
