Brighton & Hove Albion have reportedly reached a significant milestone in their pursuit of Leeds United winger Wilfried Gnonto.
According to sources, Brighton is closing in on a £53 million deal to secure the services of the talented Italian international.
Gnonto, who joined Leeds from FC Zurich in 2022, has quickly established himself as one of the most promising young talents in the Premier League.
The Seagulls are eager to add Gnonto to their ranks as they continue to build a squad capable of competing both domestically and in Europe. The 20-year-old forward has impressed with his pace, technical ability, and versatility, traits that have made him a target for several Premier League clubs this summer.
Gnonto was one of the few standout performers in what was otherwise a difficult season for Leeds, who were relegated from the Premier League.
Despite their relegation, Leeds have managed to attract considerable interest in their young star, with Brighton emerging as frontrunners in the race to secure his signature.
A deal in the region of £53 million would represent a significant investment for Brighton, who are aiming to build on their successful 2023/24 campaign under Roberto De Zerbi.
Gnonto’s addition would provide further attacking depth and give De Zerbi another exciting option to complement players like Kaoru Mitoma, Solly March, and Evan Ferguson.
Brighton’s continued success in scouting and developing young talent is evident in their pursuit of Gnonto, who could be a key player for them in the coming seasons. The potential deal would be a statement of intent from Brighton as they look to cement their place as a top-six contender in the Premier League.
