With other transfer windows still open throughout Europe, West Ham might not be done shopping just yet.

The British transfer window closed at 11 p.m. on Friday, August 30, however the Turkish deadline is not until Friday, September 13.

While Turkish employers scramble to fill positions, Galatasaray, a powerhouse in the Super Liga, is currently preparing to sign a West Ham player.

Aiming for Emerson Palmieri, Galatasaray
According to a report from Sabah, Turkey, Galatasaray is hoping to sign West Ham’s Emerson Palmieri before the deadline on Friday.

According to the Turkish news source, the Super Lig champions had hoped to entice Lucas Digne away from Aston Villa, but the West Ham No. 33 is now the top choice after the France international rejected a move to Istanbul.

With the transfer window closing soon, Sabah believes Galatasaray is internally contemplating contacting West Ham today, Tuesday, September 10.

Emerson, who cost West Ham £13 million to acquire from Chelsea in August 2022, played in 47 games across all categories the previous campaign, netting one goal and dishing out two assists from left defender.

West Ham will undoubtedly reject the strategy.
If West Ham really entertained negotiations with Galatasaray for Emerson, we would be stunned.

Under Julen Lopetegui, the Italy international is a vital player who has started all three of the Hammers’ Premier League games thus far. Since the Hammers are unable to recruit a replacement right away, this deal is unlikely to go beyond an enquiry.

Moreover, AC Milan has expressed interest in signing Emerson, and Aaron Cresswell is their only other viable alternative.

With just ten months left on his contract, the 34-year-old West Ham No. 3 is hardly young enough to be Lopetegui’s exclusive left-back, and we highly doubt he would be content to see the England international through at least January.

That being said, Galatasaray will attempt this, so make careful to monitor the situation.
