Even though Aston Villa was one of the busiest teams in the nation this summer, they were unable to close every transaction they want.
Along with younger stars like Jadon Philogene and Samuel Illing-Junior, the Villans also splashed a lot of money on new players, bringing in names like Ian Maatsen and Amadou Onana.
Unai Emery sought depth in his team for the upcoming Champions League campaign, and for the most part, he did acquire it.
But Emery, like all Premier League managers, was hoping for more.
Furthermore, Fabrizio Romano claims that Villa made an attempt to sign more players in an attempt to acquire Jonathan David, a striker for Lille.
Why Jonathan David was not signed by Aston Villa
Romano stated in his most recent Daily Briefing for CaughtOffside that while David was Villa’s primary target, the deal ultimately fell through.
“We can explain what happened with Jonathan David this summer, which could provide some hints, but it is too early to predict what might happen next summer when his contract at Lille expires,” Romano stated.
“David was one of the guys from numerous organizations about whom the most inquiries were made this summer. Although it appeared as though Aston Villa would pursue him with all of their resources, the transaction fell through because they were unable to reach a consensus with the player and the team.
David was said to be heading to many major English clubs in the summer.
In addition to Tottenham, who was rumored to have a recognized interest in David, other teams reportedly considered making a late approach for him included Arsenal.
David, who is regarded as one of the “elite” strikers in Europe, has long been associated with a move to England.
It also won’t be shocking to hear about him again in January because his contract is about to expire.
Lille values David at about £25 million, but the longer his current predicament is left unsolved, the less valuable he will be.
Many have predicted that Arsenal will win the league this year, although they will have fierce opposition from Manchester City, the defending champions, and possibly Liverpool under Arne Slot.
Given that The Gunners boast some of the top players in Europe, Josh Dasilva, a midfielder for Brentford, has identified one of their stars as the hardest he has ever faced.
The 25-year-old stated, “Declan Rice was undoubtedly the best player I played against.”
Indeed. He is just quick, strong, and able to shoot, pass, run, and read the game.
Rice has improved and is now regarded by many as being on par with the best in the world after leaving West Ham United for a £105 million fee in the summer of 2023.
The 25-year-old has developed into a leader for Arteta’s team and has made a name for himself as an England talisman abroad.
Declan Rice or Rodri Rice?
When supporters debate whether holding midfielder in the Premier League is the best, it typically comes down to Rodri or Rice from Manchester City.
Although there is a strong case for both, considering the success City has had under Rodri’s direction,
