Josh Brownhill, the captain of Burnley, is a target for Wolves, Leicester City, Brentford, and Nottingham Forest before Friday’s transfer deadline.
After joining the Clarets in January 2020, the 28-year-old has made over 150 appearances for the team.
Though Brownhill’s contract at Turf Moor is coming to an end, there are questions regarding his future because, according to recent sources, Trabzonspor made an offer for the midfield player that was rejected, reportedly worth approximately £3.4 million.
That seems to have sparked other teams’ interest in the player, as HITC has disclosed that Brentford, Wolves, Leicester, and Forest are all keen on the former Preston midfielder.
Burnley has to make every effort to maintain Brownhill, Josh
Burnley faces challenges due to the contract issue since, at the end of the season, high-ranking club officials will undoubtedly want to evaluate an offer for a player who is eligible to go on a free transfer.
However, keeping Brownhill at the team improves Burnley’s prospects of promotion and the millions that go along with it. Brownhill would be a huge loss if he were to leave.
Therefore, a highly compelling offer would be required to persuade the Championship team to sell, especially considering that they don’t now need to raise money given the volume of departures they have approved over the last week or two.
Josh Brownhill is going to be Scott Parker’s leader.
This summer, Turf Moor has had a high player turnover rate once more. This is problematic for Scott Parker, who wants to assemble a team capable of winning promotion back on its first try.
He will therefore be looking for players that he can immediately develop around and trust, and Brownhill definitely fits that description.
He wears the armband, which is a sign that he is well-respected in the dressing room and that he has demonstrated his abilities and knowledge of this level in the past.
Brownhill would undoubtedly be drawn to the idea of playing in the Premier League again, but he doesn’t seem like the kind of player who would cause a stir if he decides to stay with Burnley.
Plans for Burnley’s summer transfers
As previously said, Burnley has been through a busy time lately with a lot of transfer action surrounding the team.
Many supporters won’t be happy with the current situation because the team has lost some true talent and there are rumors that more departures may be forthcoming.
However, the team is making an effort to attract players, and in the next few days, it is anticipated that Jeremy Sarmiento, Jaidon Anthony, and Hannibal Mejbri will join.It still seems like there are a lot of transactions that might be done before Friday at 11 p.m. In the end, the Burnley hierarchy will be assessed once the window closes, and it will be expected that Parker will have a solid group.
Wednesday night marks Burnley’s return to competition as they play Wolves in the League Cup.
