Responded well’ – Watford vs Plymouth Argyle prediction: The72

The72’s writers offer their Watford vs Plymouth Argyle prediction ahead of their Carabao Cup clash on Tuesday evening.

Watford host Plymouth Argyle this evening as focus returns to Carabao Cup action following both sides’ recent Championship outings.

Watford head into tonight’s encounter in fine form having won each of their opening four matches this campaign, most recently defeating Derby County 2-1 on home soil.

The Hornets initially found themselves behind within two minutes against the Rams due to Ebou Adams’ early strike, though Vakoun Bayo’s sensational acrobatic effort saw them level at the break before Moussa Sissoko struck the winner in the second half.

Tom Cleverley’s men beat Millwall 3-2 on the opening day before thumping MK Dons 5-0 to progress to the second round of the cup. They then beat Stoke City 3-0 prior to victory over Derby and will now be hoping to make it five from five.

Plymouth Argyle, on the other hand, seem to have settled slightly following their heavy defeat to kickstart Wayne Rooney’s reign as boss.

The Pilgrims lost 4-0 to Sheffield Wednesday on the opening day, though responded with a 3-0 victory over Cheltenham Town to make it to the second round of the Carabao Cup before earning hard fought draws with Hull City and QPR back in the Championship.

Rooney’s men went down to ten men after half an hour in their latest outing against the Rs and ended the match with only nine players, so walking away from Loftus Road with a point can be seen as a decent achievement.

Here, a handful of our writers make their prediction for the match…
