Crystal Palace keeping an eye on ‘mad’ £10k-a-week Wolves player ahead of transfer deadline
Several players could be leaving Wolves in the next week, and one very surprising claim has been made this morning.
Gary O’Neil is seeking to bolster his squad before next Friday’s deadline, but he will also be bidding farewell to a few.
It is thought Daniel Podence could be on his way out.
Fabio Silva should also be departing, and there could be exits for the likes of Goncalo Guedes, Chiquinho and Santi Bueno too.
It will be a fascinating few days, that’s for sure
One man who is highly unlikely to be leaving is Rayan Ait-Nouri, but the Algerian is the subject of one extremely bold claim this morning.
Crystal Palace watching Wolves star Rayan Ait-Nouri in case they lose players
According to journalist Alan Nixon via his Patreon, Crystal Palace are reportedly now keeping an eye on Ait-Nouri ahead of the transfer deadline.
Palace are said to want someone to play on their left side, and Ait-Nouri is Oliver Glasner’s first choice.
Nixon claims Wolves want over £30 million for Ait-Nouri.
He also states that Palace do have a player who is of interest to Wolves in goalkeeper Sam Johnstone, and that there is potential here for some kind of player-plus-cash deal.
This claim comes after Ait-Nouri has been linked with some of Europe’s top clubs, with a number of those from the Premier League.
Liverpool have had some strong links in recent weeks, while Manchester City are also thought to be among his admirers.
Not a chance Ait-Nouri signs for Palace
Wolves fans are likely to get a good laugh out of this particular suggestion this morning.
Quite simply, there is zero chance that Palace will be able to sign Ait-Nouri in the coming days. Unless they offered astronomical money and Ait-Nouri actually wanted the move two things that do not seem at all likely.
Wanderers do not need to sell, and £10,000-a-week gem Ait-Nouri is a player who genuinely has the potential to become a world-class left-back/ left wing-back. He is not for sale.
O’Neil said last season that, although Ait-Nouri is ‘mad’ in the way he plays, ‘the sky is the limit’ for him’.
The suggestion Wolves would want over £30 million is quite obviously true. Realistically right now, Ait-Nouri could fetch a price similar to the likes of Ruben Neves, Matheus Nunes and Pedro Neto, maybe even more.
If it is actually true that Palace are keeping an eye on Ait-Nouri, with a view to potentially trying to sign him next week, then they would be wasting their time.
Wolves know they could probably sell Ait-Nouri to a top Champions League club next summer and make a fortune.
