Georginio Rutter has successfully completed a medical examination at Brighton & Hove Albion, with his transfer from Leeds United expected to be officially announced.
Brighton exercised Rutter’s £40 million release clause earlier this week, following the news of his move after Leeds’ loss in the Carabao Cup to Middlesbrough.
Rutter took to the field in the match, coming on as a substitute, but it seems this will be his last appearance for Leeds. Florian Plettenberg, a reporter for Sky Sports, has confirmed that Rutter has cleared the medical with Brighton & Hove Albion and has signed a long-term deal with the club. It’s expected that a notice will be issued shortly after a contract is finalized, which is rumored to be valued at €50 million, possibly with additional bonus incentives.Earlier this week, Whites’ leader Daniel Farke announced that Rutter was anticipated to leave and expressed his emotional goodbyes to colleagues. He mentioned: “I anticipate his departure, it’s beyond our control.”

“The information was shared just before our game on Wednesday afternoon, so Georgie, I, and the players knew about it. They’re not dumb; they knew too.”
“Georgie deserves credit for not pulling out of the game. He mentioned, ‘I need to rest this night,’ but he still wanted to play, so he deserves praise for that.
This morning was filled with a lot of emotion as he seemed to be saying his goodbyes. I can’t verify anything just yet because it’s all over when it’s over, but he expressed his farewells in a very emotional manner to every staff member and each of his teammates. It’s expected that the official confirmation will come within the next 24 to 48 hours. I’m confident that we’ll be without him starting today.
Elfrink suggests that Fabian Hürzeler’s team needs to present an ‘outstanding’ proposal to persuade PSV to agree. He doesn’t discuss the amount of money the Premier League team must offer to satisfy the Dutch club.
Voetbal International reports that PSV’s Joey Veerman has already discussed the option of leaving the team to join Brighton.
The 25-year-old forward has advised his fellow player to avoid the Seagulls, aiming to play in the Champions League and win trophies with PSV.
“He’s aiming for that move, it might make sense, but it wouldn’t be my choice. I respect Brighton, but they’re not interested in winning trophies. Here, we do. You play the Champions League, and he still has a year left on his deal. I’d consider it carefully if I were in his shoes,” he mentioned, as reported by V.
This is another tough loss for Leeds in the transfer window, following the departures of players like Archie Gray and Crysencio Summerville. The pressure is mounting on the Whites to make a move, as the summer transfer window is nearing its end.
The document was released two days following Voetbal International’s announcement that PSV had turned down the Seagulls’ proposal for the defender. It was also mentioned that the Dutch team is interested in extending his contract.
The defender, who is 26 years old, has less than a year remaining on his current contract and is eager to move on from the Eredivisie team to Brighton.
According to the journalist from Eindhovens Dagblad, PSV are not interested in allowing him to leave during this period. He further notes that there might be a new negotiation meeting scheduled for Monday to discuss the defender’s future with the team.
