West Ham have just sealed ‘brilliant signing’ & ‘no stars are leaving’ – expert
West Ham could be set for a ‘great season’ under new manager Julen Lopetegui after an impressive transfer window that included the just-completed signing of Jean-Clair Todibo.
That’s the opinion of ex-Scotland striker Frank McAvennie, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, McAvennie believes fans should back the owners after splashing the cash this transfer window.
Todibo, 24, is the latest of a string of impressive signings for the club that includes the likes of Crysencio Summerville and Niclas Fullkrug.
The French centre-back joins on loan from Ligue 1 side Nice with an option to buy for £35 million but have no intention of stopping there.
Football Insider revealed (August 12) that east London club are still looking to bring in another centre-back to replace Kurt Zouma.
Jean-Clair Todibo could be the missing piece at West Ham
Todibo has been ever present for Nice since making the move from Benfica in January 2021, making 136 appearances for the French club.
“I’ve not heard about anyone leaving which is brilliant”, McAvennie told Football Insider.
“We’ve now signed two centre-backs, Kilman and Todibo, what a player he is, he could be a holding midfield player.
“There is still a lot of surplus to requirements at West Ham, but I’m delighted with the signing of Aaron Wan Bissaka too.
“This could be a great season for West Ham. We criticise the owners a lot, the supporters criticise them a lot and I had a go at them for putting the concessions up.
“But you’ve got to put your hands up and say they’re bringing some wonderful talent coming to the London Stadium.
“As a supporter, I’m saying I’ll enjoy watching West Ham this year.”
