Major Burnley departure confirmed; Leeds United’s pursuit of a transfer may be impacted by the £30 million Tottenham Hotspur deal

Leeds United must move swiftly to let reinforcements in.
Wilson Odobert of Burnley has joined Tottenham Hotspur, a move that may have an impact on Leeds United’s rumored interest in Manuel Benson.

Benson became a possible target for Leeds earlier this week as the team’s search for wide reinforcements grew more intense following Crysencio Summerville’s departure to West Ham for a fee above £25 million. The 27-year-old has been connected to three Championship teams: Sunderland, Norwich City, and the Whites. Over the previous 12 months, the 27-year-old has played minimal first-team games at Turf Moor.

A well-stocked attacking unit, Burnley began Vitinha, Odobert, and Luca Koleosho in Monday’s 4-1 victory over Luton Town. The latter scored his team’s second goal at Kenilworth Road, but after an undisclosed amount was agreed upon with Premier League team Tottenham, he has now signed a five-year contract. The Clarets released a statement saying, “Burnley Football Club can confirm that forward Wilson Odobert has joined Tottenham Hotspur for an undisclosed fee. The France Under-21 international signed for the Clarets last summer and scored four goals in 33 appearances across the 2023/24 campaign, becoming Burnley’s youngest ever Premier League goalscorer with his goal against Chelsea. The club would like to wish Wilson all the best and thank him for his efforts during his time at Turf Moor.”Soccer.Burnley may get up to £30 million for Odobert, according to reports in London. However, the 19-year-old was expected to play a pivotal role in Scott Parker’s promotion-chasing team, so losing him would be devastating to their summer transfer window. There are still plenty of options available for the Clarets to replace him. Anass Zaroury, Scott Twine, and Benson can all play as a flexible trio behind the striker.

Although their roster may appear fat, the Clarets still have one of the largest, and more players may join soon.Parker acknowledged earlier this week, “I think there’s a chance that incomings do come in.” Once more, we would likely need to wait and observe how the upcoming few weeks unfold before making any necessary judgments. Though nothing significant is about to happen in terms of adding gamers right now, we will respond as usual and see where things go from there.

In the coming two weeks, Leeds should intensify their efforts to assault targets, as Georginio Rutter is anticipated to depart along with Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville, and Glen Kamara. Late on Wednesday night, Brighton exercised the 22-year-old’s £40 million release clause, creating yet another significant void that Daniel Farke must fill.Jonathan Rowe of Norwich City is still being pursued, even though there hasn’t been much news lately due to two proposals from Olympique de Marseille. Although Rabbi Matondo has been mentioned recently, the YEP is aware that he is not presently under investigation.
