£35m West Ham United player has decided that he wants to join Everton this summer
Everton remain in the market for a striker this summer, even though there has yet to be any concrete movement on the two starting stars they already have in that role.
However, that’s not to suggest that one or both of them could not move before the window is concluded, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin refusing to sign a new contract and Beto constantly linked with an Everton exit.
Both would be big misses as they complement one another well, but at the end of the day, neither has been particularly prolific across the last 12 months.
Fans would not be completely devastated should one be traded out for a new marksman, as with it would bring fresh hope that the relentless flurry of chances they often create might finally get put away.
That could well be the case with this particular target, who has now made a big decision on his future.
Armando Broja makes decision on his future
Despite having amassed interest from a host of Premier League clubs across the last few years, admittedly since he enjoyed a solid loan spell with Southampton, Armando Broja now has a big choice to make this summer.
After all, he is quite clearly surplus to requirements at West Ham United, but at just 22 years old, he already has the quality to be a starter elsewhere at the top level.
Everton have wanted Broja for some time, but his price tag remains a stumbling block that puts off almost everyone who shows interest in the Albanian.
However, the Toffees have been handed a fresh boost in their pursuit which could inspire them to stump up the £35m asking price, as iNews reports that he sees his future at Goodison Park.
They write: ‘Any move for Broja, who is understood to be keen on joining Everton if the opportunity arises, would only happen if Calvert-Lewin departed.’
Everton should convince Dominic Calvert-Lewin to sign a new contract
Whilst Broja might mark a much-needed refresh in the striker position, given the financial insecurity of the club, surely it would mark a smarter move just to tie down Calvert-Lewin to a new deal and rely on him to recapture his form.
After all, during his peak and when he was free from injury, the 27-year-old was a more-than-capable marksman, scoring 13 and 16 in back-to-back Premier League seasons.
Having endured a tough year in front of goal in the most recent term, now he is back fully fit, perhaps this might be the campaign where he finds his form once again and is inspired to sign a new deal after all.
Broja has only really enjoyed one standout season, and he notched six goals for a struggling Southampton side.
