Leeds United makes a “out of the blue”‘stunning’ £15 million offer for Sheffield United’s and West Ham United wide target.
Leeds United has been in discussions with possibilities this week and is still interested in wide reinforcements.
Leeds United appears to have stepped up their pursuit of Jesurun Rak-Sakyi, as rumour has it that a “stunning” permanent offer of £15 million is being prepared.
Rak-Sakyi is set to depart Crystal Palace, either permanently or on loan, having piqued Leeds’ interest during the summer. The Eagles have reportedly expressed interest in the former option and have had inquiries from Sheffield United and Hull City, among other Championship teams.
Although the YEP believes that earlier this week’s rumors claiming Leeds was one of three teams to agree on loan terms with Palace are untrue, the 21-year-old is still a potential recruit. And now, journalist Alan Nixon says Elland Road has made a permanent bid of £15 million “out of the blue.”
Although the proposal doesn’t specify how the add-on payments would be split, it is assumed that there would be an initial payment. Rak-Sakyi is believed to have rejected the offer from Palace, who are still eager to loan him out in the hopes that he may eventually establish himself as a Selhurst Park mainstay.
According to reports, West Ham United made an early lead but eventually lost out to those who were willing to give Rak-Sakyi a temporary home. Palace is believed to have already turned down their offers of a permanent departure. This week was supposed to see a decision regarding his future, but that hasn’t happened yet.
The time is now to subscribe to Graham Smyth’s Inside Elland Road, which provides unparalleled and comprehensive coverage of Leeds United. After apparently reaching an agreement with Palace, who, according to The Evening Standard, have insisted on a seven-figure loan fee along with a January release clause, Sheffield United is still first in line for Rak-Sakyi. The last-minute competition is getting more intense, and Chris Wilder’s Blades are pushing hard to get the deal across the line.
Earlier this week, Leeds appeared to have moved on from Rak-Sakyi after deciding that Jonathan Rowe of Norwich City was a more long-term solution. Talks are still ongoing, although Elland Road’s executives have not yet submitted a formal bid despite indicating interest in the neighborhood of £7 million. The French interest has cast doubt on the deal, though, as Olympique de Marseille has put money on the table—albeit at a bid that is less than Norwich’s asking price. Rowe was left out of the Canaries’ matchday lineup for their 2-0 loss to Oxford United on Saturday. It is anticipated that negotiations will last into the following week.
Leeds’ inability to ensure consistent starts—a promise Premier League teams typically strive for when dumping a young talent into the Championship—was a major factor in their early loan interest in Rak-Sakyi. Even with the loss of Crysencio Summerville to West Ham, Daniel Farke has plenty of options out wide. Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto are obvious choices, but Brenden Aaronson and Georginio Rutter can also play the position.Although Leeds’ home draw with Portsmouth 3-3 on Saturday marked the beginning of the Championship season, they have no immediate plans to bring in a new winger and will instead exercise patience. In less than three weeks, on August 30, the summer transfer window will come to an end.
