Mark Guidi shares what he knows about Celtic’s interest in Liverpool’s Bobby Clark

As Celtic continue their hunt to add quality to the first team, it seems that work is also being done to bolster the youth ranks this summer as well.

We discussed earlier today how Celtic have lost out on St Johnstone’s Callan Hamill after the Scotland youth international decided to join Arsenal next summer.

Celtic was also said to be interested in bringing Liverpool duo Ben Doak and Bobby Clark to Parkhead so it seems that the club are covering all bases when it comes to strengthening the team for now and in the future.

And here, journalist Mark Guidi shares what he knows about Celtic’s interest in Liverpool’s England U20 international midfielder, Clark.

Bobby Clark ‘willing to listen’ to Celtic

The 19-year-old midfielder has made 14 appearances for Liverpool which included the 1-0 win over Chelsea last season’s League Cup final win.

And Guidi says that Celtic’s interest is ‘real’ but Anfield boss, Arne Slot, is still deciding whether or not Clark is part of his plans moving forward.

Guidi said [The Go Radio Football Show], “From what I know, that is a genuine interest.

“It’s a real interest. It’s something that’s been on the radar for four or five months, from what I can gather. Again, from what I can gather, the boy is certainly interested to learn more if Liverpool are willing to let him go.

“But I think Arne Slot likes him, but he’s willing to listen to more in terms of what Celtic would have to offer. It would be a loan deal because I think the minimum fee is £12m for him.

“Obviously, Celtic can’t go to that kind of level, but if they could get young Bobby Clark on loan, could play along the midfield, could play up front, quite dynamic, then I think that would be a really good signing for Celtic if they could get that one over the line.

“But I think at the moment, Arne Slot hasn’t made up his mind whether he wants to keep the boy and integrate him to his first-team squad, or let him go out on loan and gain first-team experience elsewhere.”

Bobby Clark for Celtic?

Clearly, at his age, it seems that young Clark could be viewed as a squad player rather than someone who can make a significant impact on the first team.
