Tottenham really like the idea of signing ‘special’ £50m Premier League star to solve midfield issue

Tottenham’s transfer business has picked up with the signing of Dominic Solanke but the club are still looking to do more deals before the window ends.

Ange Postecoglou asked for changes at the end of last season and he’s seen some of that request come to life.

In have come Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, and the aforementioned Solanke, while the likes of Bryan Gil, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Ryan Sessegnon have left.

However, Postecoglou admitted after yesterday’s defeat to Bayern Munich that more deals could happen.

And according to Sky Sports journalist Michael Bridge, Tottenham would very much like to get their hands on Aston Villa star, Jacob Ramsey.

Tottenham see Jacob Ramsey as ideal signing in midfield

Speaking for GiveMeSport, journalist Bridge has said that Villa midfielder Ramsey is the ideal target for Spurs at the moment.

“I still think they are in the market for an energetic midfielder,” Bridge said.

“They like Jacob Ramsey at Villa, but he scored in a friendly yesterday, and I think Villa are very keen to keep him.”

Ramsey is among the homegrown quota at Villa Park and any fee they receive for him would go directly into the coffers against PSR.

Villa are thought to want at least £50m for Ramsey though and after Tottenham splashed £65m on Dominic Solanke, it’s hard to see them paying up again.

Daniel Levy should back Postecoglou and sign Ramsey

To be fair to Levy, he has backed his manager to land a striker who fits the system perfectly.

However, for Tottenham to really press on he might have to back Postecoglou even more and if Ramsey is the one wanted, then they should go for him.

Yes, Villa want to keep him.

But with an inflated squad at Villa Park and the club seemingly open to bids at the right price, Tottenham could get them to do business.

The time is now really for Tottenham. They have to back the manager and push on, or risk sitting still and facing repeats of every other season.
