Daniel Farke wanted to replace Glen Kamara at Leeds

Ipswich and Leicester eye ‘fabulous’ player Daniel Farke wanted to replace Glen Kamara at Leeds

Daniel Farke is yet to add a new midfielder to his Leeds United squad as a replacement for Glen Kamara, but one player the Whites wanted to sign is now a target for all three newly-promoted teams.

Kamara, 28, is one of seven players to be sold by Farke’s Leeds this summer as The 49ers rake in the cash to ease the club’s concerns regarding Profit & Sustainability Rules and avoid a possible points deduction.

The Finland star joined Rennes and in the immediate aftermath of the former Arsenal and Rangers star’s exit, it was reported that Leeds would bring in a signing to replace him, rather than rely on Joe Rothwell.

That is yet to happen, with Ilia Gruev partnering Ethan Ampadu against Valencia. But they are seen as two holding midfielders vying for the more-defensive role of the two, in Farke’s 4-2-3-1 system at Elland Road.

Farke was desperate to sign Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp

Tottenham’s Oliver Skipp was identified by Leeds as a possible replacement for Kamara. The Spurs ace seems to have fallen down the pecking order under Ange Postecoglou, with Archie Gray now above him.

Initially, Leeds spoke about Skipp with Tottenham amid talks regarding Gray’s move to North London. But Spurs rejected a deal and instead, Leeds only managed to get a permanent deal done for Joe Rodon.

Then, after Kamara’s exit, Skipp was linked with Leeds again on a loan-to-buy deal. But Leeds were once again told no, as Farke so desperately tries to force a reunion with Skipp after he starred while at Norwich.

Leicester, Southampton and Ipswich all want Tottenham’s Skipp

The Telegraph now report that all three of the newly-promoted Premier League sides want to sign Skipp. Leicester won the Championship, Ipswich second and Southampton beat Leeds in the play-off final.

The report says all three want the England U21 star, once described as “fabulous” by Glenn Hoddle. It is ‘expected’ that Skipp leaves Tottenham before the end of the window, likely to be on loan at least initially.

It seems that Skipp will only be leaving his boyhood side this summer if it is to another Premier League club, rather than dropping down a division again to the Championship to form a reunion with Farke.
