Leeds United might acquire Dejan Ljubicic for £6.8 million from Koln, as he aspires to play “big-time football”, as per Bild.

The German newspaper, Bild, mentioned on 7 August that the 26-year-old wishes to occasionally leave Germany for a new club.

The Austrian player is considered a “source of optimism” for the 2.Bundesliga team and would only be released if the Whites offered a “huge sum”.

Christian Keller, the Sports manager of Koln, would only consider the move if a deal worth approximately £6.8 million was presented.

The midfield hero of Cologne is seen as a beacon of hope in the fight for promotion following a strong training period.

Leeds United might have the opportunity to bring in Dejan Ljubicic.

Daniel Farke is in search of a flexible midfielder following a season of losses in the central area at Elland Road.

Leaders from the previous season, Archie Gray and Glen Kamara, have departed for new teams, leaving a gap in the lineup for Leeds.

While the Austrian might not be the sole addition required, acquiring Ljubicic could be a smart move.

The Koln athlete is adaptable, capable of filling any role in the midfield and also performing well in more open positions.

In a team focused on controlling the ball, where Championship matches might be more manageable, the ex-Rapid player could excel.

This might also give him a chance to regain his scoring form after failing to score last season, despite netting eight goals in the previous year [FotMob].

With a price tag of just £6.4m, Farke and Co. could snag a great deal and should strive to seal the deal.

In Leeds news, the Whites might attempt to replicate their Crysnecio Summerville tactic with a fresh signing this summer.

Leeds United utterly defeated in transfer race against Rak-Sakyi following the rejection of their £7m offer.

The Whites had their eye on the winger, but when Southampton offered £7 million, the Eagles decided to go for a loan instead.

Daniel Farke is in a tough spot for a wide player at Elland Road following Crysencio Summerville’s transfer to West Ham.

Leeds United have some good options in those roles with players like Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto, but they might struggle with having enough depth. This involved the Whites considering the agreement with Rak-Sakyi, who has demonstrated his excellence as a leading athlete in League One with Charlton Athletic.

In the previous season, the ex-England U20 player spent some time at Selhurst Park but was not used much by either Oliver Glasner or Roy Hodgson.

This has led Palace to consider transferring the young player, but they appear hesitant to let him go for good.

A deal worth £7 million would have been ideal for Farke and Co., but it might have actually helped a rival team if Leeds were to advance.

Rak-Sakyi might have been a crowd favorite at Elland Road, but other players such as Jonathan Rowe might be a better fit.

On a different note, a new player has made their debut in a match against a team expected to perform well, as predicted.

Indeed, it has been mentioned that the West Yorkshire team has put forward an offer estimated at about £7 million [John Percy, 5 August] for the player.

Considering this, there’s no obstacle for Daniel Farke to attempt to strike a deal with the previous Liverpool player and possibly even have some funds remaining to consider making another offer for Dejan Ljubicic [Bild, 7 August].

At this point, nothing is certain, but if Leeds aim to secure Kent’s services before August 30, they must move quickly, as it’s possible they have already lost the opportunity.

Regarding other news from Leeds, the Whites have made a decision regarding Wilfried Gnonto’s future.
