Josh Kerr reveals why his Olympic battles with Jakob Ingebrigtsen may be OVER – after the bitter rivals were upset by American underdog Cole Hocker in an epic 1500m final.

  • Team GB’s Josh Kerr finished with silver in the men’s 1500m Olympic final
  • The event had been billed around his bitter rivalry with Jakob Ingebrigtsen
  • But, it was surprise package Cole Hocker who won gold with a stunning run

Josh Kerr thinks he may have had his last Olympic showdown with Jakob Ingebrigtsen – as he does not expect his Norwegian rival to run the 1500 metres in Los Angeles.

British star Kerr won a silver medal in an epic 1500m final on Tuesday night, beating defending champion Ingebrigtsen, who came fourth, but losing to American underdog Cole Hocker.

Ingebrigtsen was back in action at the Stade de France on Wednesday morning, competing in the 5,000m.

And Kerr believes that might be the distance Ingebrigtsen, 23, chooses to concentrate on by the time the next Olympics come round in LA in 2028.

‘He’s obviously pretty dominant in the 5,000m,’ said Kerr. ‘I can’t see him running the 1500m for another whole Olympic cycle.
