Sean Dyche will be fuming at Everton as Vitaliy Mykolenko injury development emerges

Sean Dyche has every right to be frustrated after Everton ace Vitaliy Mykolenko sustained another injury during Ukraine’s 4-0 win over Moldova on Tuesday (11 June).

With Ukraine preparing for Euro 2024, entering Group E with Belgium, Romania and Slovakia, Sergiy Rebrov will be hoping to advance to the knockout stages.

The Toffees full-back is an extremely important part of the international squad and, considering his injury woes at Goodison Park towards the end of the season, game time seems necessary before the tournament.

Mykolenko missed the final four matches of the Premier League season, missing out through an ankle injury, and certainly should not have been thrown straight into the starting lineup on international duty.

The 25-year-old played 45 minutes of a 3-1 defeat to Poland, being substituted off at half-time as a pre-planned decision, but the defender has obviously been pushed too hard after the latest setback.

Sean Dyche must air frustrations as Everton ace Vitaliy Mykolenko suffers injury setback

Mykolenko managed just 30 minutes of Ukraine’s friendly with Moldova, thumping the ground in pain after trying to connect with a cross into the attacking penalty area.

While the Everton full-back is an important part of Ukraine’s team, it is clear that he was not ready enough to play the volume of minutes he was given and this could have a damaging effect on the Toffees’ 2024/25 preparations depending on the seriousness of the injury.
