Coventry City keen on Walsall man as well as Stockport County

Coventry City are keen on a move for Walsall defender Donervon Daniels along with Stockport County, according to reporter Alan Nixon on his Patreon.

Coventry City are interested in luring the centre-back to the Coventry Building Society Arena this summer as they look to continue their recruitment drive. They are preparing for another year in the Championship after missing out on the play-offs last season.

Donervon Daniels, 27, is facing an uncertain future at Walsall after spending the second-half of the last campaign out on loan in Turkey at Besiktas. His contract with the league one side expires in 2026 but his situation is up in the air right now.

According to journalist Nixon on his Patreon, the Sky Blues want to land him on loan but that sort of deal may not be possible at this stage.Stockport County are also in the frame for his signature following their relegation from the top flight.

Coventry City keen on Walsall defender

Coventry City could see Donervon Daniels as someone to bolster their defensive department.

He would be a shrewd signing by the Sky Blues if they were able to agree something with Walsall.

The centre-back has been on the books of the Reds for his whole career to date but could do with a permanent change of scene.

The Walsall-born man rose up through the academy ranks of his local side and was a regular for them at various different youth levels.

Donervon Daniels has made 226 appearances for his current club in all competitions and has scored five goals from defence.

He helped the Reds win the play-offs back in 2022 after they beat Huddersfield Town at Wembley and they have stayed up since then.

The ex-England youth international has also had loan spells away from the City Ground in the past at Dagenham and Redbridge and Rangers.

What next for Coventry City?

If landing Donervon Daniels on a temporary basis isn’t possible then Coventry City may have to pursue other targets in his position.

Robins’ men landed Jack Rudoni from Huddersfield Town last week and have been making some impressive strides in the window recently as they look to compete for promotion.
