Tottenham to make £40million Benjamin Sesko transfer bid amid RB Leipzig exit news

John Wenham claims Tottenham could offer £40million to sign RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko.

The owner of the reputable Spurs podcast Lilywhite Rose is a fan of the 26-year-old but doesn’t believe he is worth much more than £40million.

As reported by The Sun (9 June), Benjamin Sesko has a release clause of £65million in his RB Leipzig contract which can only be activated by certain clubs.

However, Wenham – speaking exclusively to Tottenham News – can’t see Spurs paying that kind of money.

“I don’t think he is worth that because he has only been performing at this level for one season,” Wenham said.

“Before that his goals were few and far between. However, I have always liked Benjamin Sesko.

“He is homegrown and he can play as a central striker which addresses a key issue in the squad for us.

However, £65million is too much. I could see Tottenham making an offer of around £40million to sign him.”

Will Tottenham sign Benjamin Sesko from RB Leipzig?

Solanke would be a fantastic addition for Ange Postecoglou.

Spurs need a reliable number nine with a proven goalscoring record in the Premier League and Benjamin Sesko has demonstrated he could fill that role.

However, he has not yet demonstrated he can fill that role consistently and £65million would perhaps be a bit much.

While he found the back of the net 19 times in the bundles Liga for RB Leipzig last season, the Englishman had only scored 10 times in 96 appearances in England’s top flight before the 2023/24 campaign.

Therefore, an offer of around £40million would be fair, but Spurs could live to regret paying anything more.

In other Tottenham news, Wenham wants the club to sign a Bayern Munich ace who is available for transfer.
