Morgan Gibbs-White ready to join a bigger club this summer amid Tottenham link

Tottenham were given a boost in their pursuit of Nottingham forest, as the midfielder reportedly wants a switch to a bigger club.

According to Football Insider, Morgan Gibbs-White is ready for a new challenge in his career and willing to quit Nottingham Forest for a bigger club. The news will please the chasing pack, especially Tottenham, who are keen to sign the 24-year-old Premier League midfielder in the summer.

Morgan Gibbs-White wants a new challenge.

Morgan Gibbs-White may have surprised a few after switching to Nottingham Forest two years ago from Wolves in a £42.5 million deal, including add-ons. Whether the Tricky Trees have paid the excess bonuses remains the question, but undoubtedly, he was an expensive acquisition.

After two years fighting relegation, the 24-year-old Premier League midfielder might have other ideas to further his career. Gibbs-White was one of their best players in that period, and now, the time may have come for him to consider migrating to a bigger club that is challenging at the top end of the table.

There are some notable clubs keen on signing him that are challenging for the title, but Tottenham have held talks for Gibbs-White, probably through intermediaries. There are no official discussions about Nottingham Forest, although that could materialise sooner rather than later.

Ange Postecoglou remains intent on adding a key attacking midfielder to his ranks after a season where they over-relied on the injury-prone James Maddison. Signing Gibbs-White will not be a straightforward affair, as Forest will demand a significant fee, with previous suggestions pointing at a £40 million asking price, which could now be around 60 million as per the report.

Will Nottingham Forest sell Gibbs-White?

On paper, Gibbs-White still has three years left on his deal, meaning Forest are in a good position to reject offers and even demand a significant fee should they decide to sell. However, their troubles with PSR regulations dictate they sell some players before June 30, and at the moment, the 24-year-old Premier League midfielder is one of their most significant sellable assets.

Considering the size of their investment in signing Gibbs-White, Forest will demand close to that 60 million mark to ensure they make a decent profit from the entire operation. Whether Tottenham are willing to oay anywhere close to that figure remains the question.
