SKY CONFIRM: Walsall have Struck an agreement With King Lynn Town For…

Walsall Wood has announced that former captain Kev Monteiro has been released.

The 30-year-old midfielder failed to agree a new contract with the Wood ahead of the 2024/25 season.

The club have said that, after deciding not to activate the one-year extension on his contract, terms on a non-contract basis could not be agreed.

Monteiro played 94 times in two seasons at Walsall Wood.

He also captained the side to the Midland Football Premier Division title, securing Step 4 status for the first time in the club’s history in the process.

Linnets announce signing number two

King’s Lynn Town have added to their central defensive stocks with their second signing for next season.

Tom Wilson – who left FC Halifax Town at the beginning of May – has signed on the dotted line as preparations continue for the National League North resumption. Wilson joined FC Halifax last summer from Belper Town.

“I’m really pleased that Tom has joined us,” Lynn boss Adam Lakeland told the club’s official channels.

“Having enjoyed a consistent run of results since January playing with three centre backs, it’s clear that’s the system that suits our personnel best, but we needed to ensure we go into the new season with four quality central defenders.”I

“Tom fits the profile of centre backs I like, committed, aggressive, brave, vocal and competent with the ball,” said Lakeland.

Wilson, 23, joins Josh Coulson and Kyle Callan-McFadden as centre-back options.

“He’s at an age where I feel we can continue to develop his game and he has experience of being a captain in the past, of captaining a team which achieved promotion and last season played some games in the league above.
