Newly promoted Premier League side set their sights on Newcastle fan favourite in statement £21m deal

One Newcastle United midfielder has been tipped to leave the club this summer

Newly promoted Ipswich Town have already made one big statement of intent by securing the long-term future of in-demand head coach Kieran McKenna – and now the Tractor Boys are planning to make another eye-catching statement by targeting Newcastle United winger Miguel Almiron, according to reports from TeamTalk.

The outlet understands that the Magpies are willing to listen to offers for as many as four new players as Eddie Howe attempts to raise funds to once again build a team that is capable of qualifying for the Champions League.

Almiron was a pivotal part of that achievement last time around, and the once club-record signing, scored an impressive 11 goals in the 2022/23 campaign with the bulk of those coming during a fruitful patch in October.

Club sticking to their guns in Leicester negotiations – Maresca departure may help their cause

Bologna remain determined to negotiate a deal with Leicester City for Victor Kristiansen but have no intention of paying the €15m clause in his loan deal.

That’s according to Quotidiano Sportivo, who say that the Italian side remain determined to bring the defender’s asking price down this summer.

They explain that Kristiansen’s loan deal at the club is set to expire on June 30th and at this point in time he will be heading back to Leicester at that point. He arrived from the Foxes on an expensive €1m loan last summer that included an option for Bologna to make it permanent for €15m.

The terms of that deal were set out as they were because Leicester, specifically Enzo Maresca, had planned to bring him back and thought he could flourish as a central defender in a three-man defence.

Maresca is now on his way to Chelsea, though, so plans have changed on that front. Bologna, meanwhile, are sticking to their guns.

They like the player and want him permanently but don’t want to spend €15m to get him and would like to negotiate downwards to around €8-9m.

Much will depend on who their new manager is, with Thiago Motta heading to Juventus and a new man set to come in. He’ll have his own ideas and could want a different profile to the Leicester man.

If he doesn’t, though, and approves of a move for him, Bologna intend to stick to their guns and try to push his asking price down.
