Sunderland in talks to sign QPR midfielder Chris Willock this summer

Sunderland are looking to bring in soon-to-be free agent midfielder Chris Willock over the summer in a bid to bolster the experience in their ranks for next season.

The 26-year-old — who can play central midfield or on the left wing — has gained plenty of Championship experience since making the permanent move to Loftus Road from Benfica four years ago, and has been a virtually ever-present figure over that time.

He was voted as the club’s player of the year at the end of the 2021-2022 season and now is looking to move on elsewhere following the expiration of his deal.

Sunderland are desperate for experience in the ranks and whilst Willock is just 26 years old, he’s played a decent amount of football at this level over the years.

He started his career at Arsenal, before moving to Portugal to join Benfica, and then later spending time out on loan with West Bromwich Albion and Huddersfield. He’s also highly decorated at international youth level, playing 37 times for England at various age groups.
