Latest Nottingham Forest news as Nuno Espirito Santo’s Reds prepare to face Crystal Palace at the City Ground

Much has happened since Nottingham Forest last kicked a ball as the Reds prepare to return to action after the international break. The Reds take on Crystal Palace at the City Ground on Saturday having dropped into the relegation zone. A four-point deduction for breaching financial rules means they are now 18th in the table, although the club have launched an appeal against the sanction.

Head coach Nuno Espirito Santo addressed the media for the first time since the punishment was announced as his pre-match press conference was held on Thursday afternoon. Below is a look at what the Portuguese had to say.Nuno took his place in the press conference room at the City Ground only a few hours after news broke of Miracle Man Larry Lloyd’s death. A Reds legend, the former defender was a key figure in Brian Clough’s double European Cup-winning side.

The club plan to honour Lloyd at Saturday’s game. Nuno was well aware of Forest’s glorious history when he took the job in December, and he paid tribute to the 75-year-old.“He was one of the Miracle Men,” Nuno said. “Our feelings are with the family. It’s a sad moment.“To win two European competitions in a row is a miracle, it’s very difficult. We are very proud of that. The club has a big, big history.”Contrasting emotions

International fixtures resulted in contrasting emotions for two of Forest’s players. That is something Nuno is mindful of amid a call for unity at the club ahead of the run-in.For right-back Neco Williams, there was bitter disappointment as Wales missed out on qualifying for this summer’s Euros. But for American Gio Reyna, there was delight at individual and collective success.
