As he takes off to join Brighton and Hove Albion, Valentin Barco has taken steps to defuse tensions at his

previous team, Boca Juniors.

The player made these remarks to TyC today while traveling to join the Seagulls after making a switch during the January transfer window.

After months of rumors regarding his future, Brighton made the rather contentious trade of acquiring the young defender in January.

When Roberto de Zerbi’s team first attempted to negotiate a deal with Boca for the player, they encountered not just resistance but also hostility from the Argentine powerhouses.

That meant that in the end, Brighton simply used the player’s release clause to acquire him, which upset Boca, who believed they had been short cheated and that the clause did not fairly represent the player’s value.
Since then, there has been simmering conflict between the involved parties; Boca president Juan Roman Riquelme has even openly criticized Barco.

In an attempt to defuse the situation, Barco has now complimented and thanked his previous team for helping him reach to this position.

“Grateful to the club, the leaders, and all the Boca fans for all these years that I lived,” he stated, expressing his happiness at this development.

“Boca means the world to me; they have always given me everything.” I’ve been a member of the club since I was nine years old.
