Nuno suggests 24-year-old Nottingham Forest player must do better than he did vs Newcastle

Nuno Espirito Santo has singled Nottingham Forest defender Nuno Tavares out as one player who needed to do better yesterday.

The head coach was speaking to Nottinghamshire Live after a 3-2 defeat to Newcastle.

So, what has Espirito Santo said about Tavares after the Forest defeat to Newcastle? Let’s take a closer look…

What Nuno Espirito Santo said about Forest defender Nuno Tavares

Well, it would appear that Espirito Santo is still hoping to see more from Tavares in a red shirt as the season progresses. .

The Portuguese performer was once again handed the left-back spot but he was unable to help Forest claim a win.

In truth, this was probably as bright as Tavares has looked since he joined Forest on loan from Arsenal.

Espirito Santo dropped Tavares when discussing the problems that Forest faced, suggesting he might have done better.

He told Nottinghamshire Live: “That is the positive. I am not concerned if we miss one chance or one-on-one with the goalkeeper because we keep producing a lot.

“For sure, with the quality and the talent, things will get better because we are producing a lot of situations that require better passing.

“Nuno, for example, had numerous situations like that.”

Tavares played well but more needs to come

At the minute, it would seem as though Tavares isn’t offering a great deal more than Harry Toffolo does at left-back.

Okay, Tavares got into some good areas yesterday but he still makes some foolish mistakes which does rile Forest fans.

As a young player, there will be more to come from Tavares and hopefully, Forest can start to see the best of him.

With Espirito Santo seemingly disgruntled at certain aspects of his game, it will now be interesting to see if he keeps his place next week.
