Leicester City will be without five players for their match against Preston North End on Wednesday night.

Leicester have won eight of their last nine Championship games, with the only loss coming at the hands of Hull City.

Enzo Maresca’s men defeated Blackburn Rovers at home 1-4 on Sunday and Preston North End will be looking to bounce back after their thrashing at the hands of West Brom on Saturday.

Preston North End are currently in third place in the league and will be hoping to get back to winning ways.

Leicester lost stars James Maddison and Harvey Barnes in the summer, but retained plenty of the squad which came down from the top flight. Jamie Vardy, Wilfred Ndidi, Ricardo Pereira, Wout Faes, Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and co are all playing their part in the Foxes’ Championship campaign, along with ex-PNE loan man Stephy Mavididi.

However, Maresca will be without a number of players for the midweek clash. On Sunday, centre-back Vestergaard was booked for his fifth yellow card in as many games and will now go on a one-match ban, which could open the door for Coady to start his first league game for Leicester.

In other news, the Magpies are expected to be without academy graduate McAteer, who limped off with a hamstring problem just 15 minutes into the first-half against Ewood Park on Saturday. Callum Doyle, on loan from Manchester City, is expected to be out for three-to-four months due to a knee injury. Midfielder Dennis Praet will also be out for a similar duration.

Tom Cannon is out of action on Wednesday night after signing for Leicester on the final day of the transfer window for an undisclosed fee. The striker, who scored eight times on loan last season at Preston, has sustained a stress fracture to his back and has yet to train with the first-team squad.
