Melbourne City’s Alessandro Lopane has signed a contract extension with the Isuzu UTE A-League champions.
Lopane’s new three-year deal will keep him at City until at least the end of the 2027-28 season.
The “clutch” 21-year-old midfielder, who has made 42 appearances for the champions since arriving from Western Sydney Wanderers in 2023, played an important role in the club’s Grand Final triumph having returned from a serious knee injury in March.
“Melbourne City has been such a huge support for me both on and off the pitch, particularly throughout my rehab earlier in the season,” Lopane said.
“I’ve loved my time in Melbourne so far and am really excited to extend my stay at City as we chase more silverware in the seasons to come.”
Lopane underwent pre-season surgery on a gruesome injury that nearly cut short his career.
His comeback sparked a run of eight consecutive starts to close out the regular season, including the match-winning goal on return against Sydney FC before featuring as a substitute in City’s Grand Final triumph over rivals Melbourne Victory.
