The most recent transfer rumors from the Premier League are discussed on 3AM.
Kieran McKenna, the manager of Ipswich Town, has taken a strong stance against rumors that Kalvin Phillips’ loan at Portman Road may be terminated during the January transfer window.
As McKenna’s team has had a difficult return to the top level, the Manchester City midfielder has made seven appearances in all competitions since joining the Premier League newcomers on a season-long loan move in the summer.
Senior officials at Portman Road thought the midfielder’s “head is still at Leeds,” according to a Football Insider article published last week, which said Ipswich would think about ending the loan agreement early in the new year after being “amazed” by Phillips’ lack of mobility and running power. McKenna, however, vehemently denied the allegations and emphasized that there “have been no conversations of the like.”
When asked about the story following Saturday’s 4-3 loss at Brentford, McKenna responded, “What can I say about that? Appropriate, appropriate rubbish. Football taught me a long time ago that anything you put online can go viral, be picked up by a number of media sites, and eventually turn into a story. It’s complete bullshit. I find it quite regrettable that there haven’t been any discussions of this nature. He played really well.
West Ham United is thinking about acquiring a Europa League hero.
Ademola Lookman, an in-form attacker for Atalanta, is apparently a target for West Ham United.
According to a GiveMeSport source, the Hammers have compiled a shortlist of three possible targets and are eager to expand their offensive options during the January transfer window. Even though they signed players like Niclas Fullkrug of Borussia Dortmund and Crysencio Summerville in the summer, Julen Lopetegui is rumored to be considering a move for players like Jonathan David of Lille and Jhon Duran of Aston Villa, the latter of whom is strongly linked to a move to the London Stadium in the offseason.
The name of Ademola Lookman, who is said to be worth about £54 million, might surprise some, though, since the former Everton attacker is still playing well for Atalanta in Serie A.
The 23-time Nigerian international has maintained his form into the current campaign after scoring an incredible hat-trick to assist his team defeat Bayer Leverkusen in the Europa League Final last season. Lookman, who has so far contributed five goals and five assists in 10 games, was in excellent form on Saturday as he scored two goals in his team’s 6-1 thumping of Verona.
West Ham is reportedly one among the “likely bidders” for Lookman, who may be persuaded to rejoin the Premier League for the first time since leaving Leicester City little over two years ago, according to the source.
Tom Fellows, a winger for West Bromwich Albion, is apparently being considered by Everton as part of their pursuit of Championship standout Sean Dyche in an effort to increase their offensive options.
After making an impression in the first few months of the Championship season, journalist Alan Nixon has stated that the Toffees are pursuing the England Under-20 international. As Carlos Corberan’s team fought for a return to the Premier League, the gifted young player has contributed five assists in 12 league games for the Baggies.
