Max Wober, a defender for Leeds United, missed Austria’s match against Norway because of a knee injury, according to the Kronen Zeitung.

In order to be prepared to play again this weekend, Leeds United will be hoping that its international players can get through the current round of fixtures unharmed.

Scott Parker’s Burnley presents a formidable test for the Whites, and although the season is still very early, both teams are vying for promotion, so the outcome might be significant at the end of the run.

Max Wober, a center back, was one of those who left for international duty, rejoining the Austrian team. Due to the non-occurrence of an anticipated summer relocation, he has been marginalized in Yorkshire.

It appears Leeds United is now more worried about the defender’s health.

The Austrian news source Kronen Zeitung claims that Wober’s knee issue kept him out of the starting lineup for his nation’s match against Norway. In the first match of their UEFA Nations League group, his country and Slovenia drew 1-1. He had played the entire ninety minutes of the match.

It’s unclear if Wober has sustained any harm, but if he reunites with his team, more information may become available.

An issue with transfers
Wober may not be in Leeds United manager Farke’s initial starting lineup plans. Despite having a superior background, he is not favored at left or center back.

Even so, losing him for an extended period of time would be devastating because there is essentially no backup center back available.

It seems sense that Pascal Struijk and Joe Rodon be the preferred team. To unseat either of the two from the Elland Road team will require some work.

But with Wober sidelined, only Ethan Ampadu can fill in at the center of defense, and he’s guaranteed a starting position in defensive midfield. Fans were aware that the issue needed to be resolved in the summer, but the club chose not to take action, and it may not have taken long for that deficiency to become apparent.

Hopefully
We can only hope that Wober’s problem is a minor inconvenience. If that is the case, Leeds United’s medical team will be happy that he was left out of Austria’s most recent match.

If not, Farke will be praying that there aren’t any more injuries to the defense.

He will have to field a makeshift center-back duo once more if Struijk or Rodon are pushed to the sidelines, and shifting Ampadu back will require a change in midfield as well. Despite his ability as a deputy, the Welshman’s lack of depth means that two changes to the starting lineup are required in the event of an injury in one area.

They have been dealt this hand; yet, it may have been averted with some more proactive recruitment.
