Championship club want £19m for ‘unbelievable’ attacker after Leeds United interest this summer

Leeds United are expected to be in the market for new, attacking signings before the deadline with Daniel Farke keen on new additions but one player on the Elland Road radar is now rated at £19m.

Not only have Leeds waved goodbye to Crysencio Summerville with the Dutchman joining West Ham for a fee believed to be north of £30m with add-ons, but Georginio Rutter’s move to Brighton is imminent.

With Rutter departing, Leeds are expected to rake in a whopping £120m from player sales this summer after the previous departures of Archie Gray, Glen Kamara, Charlie Cresswell and three more players.

The Leeds boss spoke to the media after Saturday’s draw with West Brom. Farke told The 49ers publicly that he wants two new attacking players to replace Rutter and Summerville, and one is available for £19m.

Leeds would have to pay £19m for Daniel Farke reunion

Saturday’s 0-0 draw with West Brom was a solid result. A better performance on the whole compared to the 3-3 draw with Portsmouth and of course, the dismal 3-0 defeat to Middlesbrough on Wednesday.

But one thing was evident, the lack of punch in attack was obvious. One player Leeds have been linked with is Norwich City star Josh Sargent, but the “unbelievable” star is now rated at £19.3m by The Canaries.

The Athletic’s American reporter Tom Bogert shared as much on Instagram, telling fans that MLS side Cincinnati are interested and have made a £15.5m offer while also showing interest in Weston McKennie.

He said: “Sources: Inside FC Cincinnati’s pursuit of Weston McKennie, Josh Sargent & German Berterame. McKennie chase for months. Sargent bid of $20m. Norwich want $25m+. Pursuit is still active for

What Farke has said about Josh Sargent in the past

Leeds have been linked with a number of Norwich players this summer. USA star Sargent was the first, with the Norwich star actually signed by Farke at Carrow Road. Sargent scored on Saturday afternoon.

Leeds also wanted Gabriel Sara but Turkish side Galatasaray made a move for the Brazilian, signing the star for a fee north of £20m. Jonathan Rowe remains a target for Leeds, with Sargent an expensive option.

Farke though is a big fan of Sargent, once saying: “His workload was unbelievable both with and against the ball. He was able to keep the ball in the pocket and also against a difficult back three of Brighton.”
