How Stoke City’s summer transfer window will unfold as predicted by Football Manager 2024.
West Ham United won their first two competitive games of the new season, giving them a good start.
Lewis Baker’s goal in the second half gave Stephen Schumacher’s team a hard-fought 1-0 victory at home against Coventry City to start the 2017 Championship campaign. The three points were secured at the Bet365 Stadium. That victory was followed by another on Tuesday night, as Freddie Anderson and Emre Tezgel helped the Potters, who had undergone significant upheaval, defeat League Two team Carlisle United 2-0.Now, all eyes will be on Saturday, the first away day of the Championship season, when Watford, who has also won both of its opening competitive matches, will be hosted by Schumacher and his team at Vicarage Road. On Saturday, a number of Schumacher’s summer additions are probably going to play against the Hornets. But what other business could the Potters have within the last two weeks of the transfer window? We launched Football Manager 2024, updated the team to reflect current form, and evaluated how West Ham United will fare for the duration of the window according to the most popular managing simulation in the world.
Goalkeepers
The genuine Potters completed a move for Rotherham United stopper Viktor Johansso, while no further transactions were made in the goalkeeping department.First, the only player to go was Lyndon Gooch, who spent £1.5 million to join Orlando City of Major League Soccer. At the back, though, there were two new arrivals: West Ham United star Jack Robinson and Bambo Diaby, who came from Sheffield Wednesday in a £350k deal and £1.2m deal, respectively, on the last day of the transfer window.
Wilmots, Gibson, Rose, Lawal, Bocat, Gooch, Stevens, Tchamadeu, Diaby, and Robinson are Schumacher’s defensive choices.
midfield players
Schumacher only completed one midfield deal, but it was a striking one: Fulham star Tom Cairney joined after Stoke and the Premier League team agreed to a £2 million deal.
Berger, Pearson, Baker, Laurent, Thompson, Bae, Johnson, and Cairney are Schumacher’s possibilities for the midfield.
Moving Forward
In the last week of the transfer window, Schumacher permitted Niall Ennis and Ryan Mmaee to depart the team, meaning that there were two departures at the top of the field. After signing to a season-long loan agreement with Alaves, Mmaee also traveled to Spain, joining Ennis at Spanish club Sabadell in a permanent move. Regarding new players, two agreements were reached: Joe Gelhardt, who came from Championship rival Leeds United on loan, and Marcus Harness, a winger, who came from Ipswich Town for £350,000.Koumas, Manhoef, Jojic, Gallagher, Harness, and Gelhardt are Schumacher’s forward options.
