A former Sheffield Wednesday and Arsenal player receives a “£10m-plus” tag from Aston Villa in response to interest from Luton Town.

In light of Luton Town’s interest, Cardiff City is allegedly seeking at least £10 million for former Sheffield Wednesday defender Mark McGuinness.
McGuinness, a commanding center back, was only in Hillsborough for half the season, but he won over Owls fans fast. He joined on loan from Aston Villa and made 24 appearances, all of which showed promise.

In spite of the supporters’ cries for a long-term agreement, McGuinness came back to Cardiff and became an indispensable member of the Bluebirds. Wales Online claims that Luton is eager to entice the Arsenal academy graduate to leave Wales.

However, they might have to pay a hefty transfer charge in order to accomplish this. According to the report, Cardiff values McGuinnes at “£10m-plus,” which is perhaps not too shocking given that he has a contract that expires in 2027.

Cardiff is reportedly adamant that they don’t need to sell, but when big transfer prices are spoken, money talks. For Luton, who are returning to the Championship following a season in the Premier League, he would likely be a major coup.

Many would contend that the Hatters, having brought in a number of elite Championship players upon their elevation to the top division, are in a strong position to challenge for promotion.

They have only signed two players this summer, but they do have a highly regarded manager in Rob Edwards. Reuell Walters moved from Arsenal to the Hatters, while Shandon Baptiste came from Brentford.
