Amir Richardson, a summer transfer target for Everton and Tottenham Hotspur, has now agreed to join Fiorentina.
The 22-year-old Reims midfielder has improved his reputation for Morocco at the Olympics and is a target for many clubs during the current transfer season.
Everton and Tottenham are two Premier League teams interested in signing Richardson. He has suitors.
Everton have even tabled a bid worth €9m but Reims are holding out for a fee of €12m before agreeing to sell the player.
Now, according to French sports daily L’Equipe, Fiorentina have an agreement on the basis of a fee of €10m.
Additionally, Reims has insisted on a 10% sell-on provision, to which the Italians have consented.
Fiorentina now needs to schedule Richardson’s medical appointment and finalize their personal terms.
It remains to be seen if Everton or Tottenham attempt to outbid Fiorentina for the midfield player with a better offer.
During the transfer window, Sean Dyche strengthened his Everton team with several astute purchases.
When it comes to player arrivals and departures this summer, the Toffees have been among the Premier League’s busiest teams.
Talent has been added, including Iliman Ndiaye and Jake O’Brien, but the most high-profile departure was Amadou Onana.
Dyche is still looking for a replacement despite the midfielder’s £50 million sale to Aston Villa.
Even though a lot of names have surfaced after the Belgium international was sold, Reims midfielder Amir Richardson has been the one that supporters seem to be most excited about.
The 22-year-old is the age and type of player the Toffees want to be pursuing. He has made an impression for Morocco at the 2024 Olympics, where his nation plays a bronze medal match on Thursday.
But Reims has agreed to a contract with another club since L’Equipe initially revealed the Toffees’ interest on July 3. That was more than a month ago.Le Parisien (8 August) reports that Fiorentina has already had an offer for the 22-year-old approved.
Their offer, which is estimated to be worth £8.6 million, includes a 10% sell-on fee in case the player leaves the club in the future.
Everton must now turn their attention elsewhere.
Even though Dyche has added a ton of players this transfer window, further signings will probably be required to increase their prospects of moving up the Premier League standings.
The Merseyside club’s eight-point loss from two different PSR charges cost them the season, although they still finished in fifteenth place.
Fortunately for Dyche, the club’s astute selling of players like Lewis Dobbin should save them from having to deal with these penalties for the 2024–2025 season.
Even while there is still a lot of time for adjustments to be made, the Toffees will need to move quickly to defeat the Serie A team if they hope to sign Richardson.
In other Everton news, it has been stated that the team is “desperate” to retain Dominic Calvert-Lewin.
